Despite previous word to the contrary from the actress herself, it sounds as though Hayley Atwell may, uh, do fondue with Captain America: The Winter Soldier after all.

For months, Marvel has been looking for an actress to portray Cap's as-yet unknown love interest in next year's Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  Many a fine young actress has her name associated with the part, but it turns out that the role has gone to none of the contenders previously mentioned.

Instead, Emily VanCamp has been selected by directors Joe and Anthony Russo to play against Chris Evans as Steve Rogers, the Avenger out of time.

Even though he's living as a man out of time in the 21st Century, Steve Rogers can still hang out with his old war buddies and non-buddies in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.  Among the non-buddies to make a return, we now know, is Arnim Zola, the HYDRA scientist played by Toby Jones in Captain America: The Avenger.

Anthony Mackie is a frequent MVP, the kind of actor who is good even when the movie around him isn't.  That's solid news for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, since the 8 Mile, The Hurt Locker, and Gangster Squad actor is set to play Sam Wilson, also known as The Falcon, in next year's sequel.

Remember the ten-disc Blu-ray set collecting Iron Man, The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, and The Avengers?  The one that was supposed to be part of this holiday buying frenzy before a lawsuit delayed the September street date?  Yeah, that one.  It's now set for April, and will be accompanied by Marvel Studios' "Phase Two," along with previously unseen special features.

The title of Captain America: The Winter Soldier tops us off to just who will be the primary villain in the sequel, but Cap's second modern adventure can't be a one-on-one affair.  That means secondary villains.  One of those villains adding mayhem to The Winter Soldier's antics, Crossbones, will definitely be played by Frank Grillo.

While the currently in-production Iron Man 3 is dividing its time between North Carolina and China, Thor: The Dark World is filming in and around London, England.  Being the old school patriot that he is, fellow Avenger Cap is keeping it closer to home, as it seems Captain America: The Winter Soldier will film in Cleveland, Ohio and Los Angeles, California.

Available on Blu-ray and DVD beginning September 25th is the highly anticipated and soon-to-be summer blockbuster The Avengers, which was produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Pictures. The film marks the culmination of a promise that began in 2008 with Iron Man and continued in the years to follow with Iron Man 2, Thor, and Captain America: The First Avenger, introducing new Marvel characters that all exist in one unifying cinematic Marvel universe. Marvel Studios has succeeded in the impossible, bridging together several different film franchises to create one world where all of Marvel Studio's on-screen characters can coexist and form the popular superhero-team The Avengers, based on the classic comic book co-created by the legendary Stan "The Man" Lee.

The Avengers was written and directed by fanboy favorite Joss Whedon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, The Cabin in the Woods) and truly stars an all-star cast that includes Robert Downey Jr. (Iron ManThe Incredible Hulk, Iron Man 2) as Tony Stark/Iron Man, Chris Evans (Captain America: The First Avenger) as Steve Rogers/Captain America, Mark Ruffalo (Shutter Island) as Dr. Bruce Banner/Hulk, Chris Hemsworth (Thor) as Thor, Scarlett Johansson (Iron Man 2) as Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Jeremy Renner (Thor) as Clint Barton/Hawkeye, Samuel L. Jackson (Iron Man, Iron Man 2Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger) as Nick Fury, Tom Hiddleston (Thor) as Loki, Cobie Smulders (TV's How I Met Your Mother) as Maria Hill, Clark Gregg (Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor) as Phil Coulson, Stellan Skarsgard (Thor) as Erik Slevig, and Gwyneth Paltrow (Iron Man, Iron Man 2) as Pepper Potts.

IAR's Managing Editor Jami Philbrick recently had a chance to travel to the Industrial Light & Magic offices in San Francisco and sit down with Assoc. Visual Effects Supervisor Jason Smith to talk about his work creating the New York City fight scene in The AvengersSmith discussed the film, creating a virtual New York, making the ambitious finale look real, the movie's fan-favorite "hero shot," collaborating with director Joss Whedon, and why The Avengers is a truly groundbreaking cinematic experience.
